Volunteer RoleDescription
CoachesWe are a Hockey club; we need coaches at all levels. No previous Hockey experience is required, just one hour a week and a positive disposition is all that is required. The club will provide training.

Besides coaching on Junior training nights, we are also looking to provide coaching in Primary Schools in the local area. Again no experience is required and again only one hour per week is all that is needed (unless you want to do more). This is ideal for anyone who is retired, part time, works flexible hours, has a child playing at the club and wants to put a bit back into the community.

Team ManagersWe don’t actually have any of these yet, but it would be great if we could find some volunteers! The role consists of managing logistics around an age group squad i.e. getting the squad to the Blitz/Matches, chasing overdue subs and organising team social activities. Again not more than a couple of hours a week max during the hockey season.
UmpiresYou cant play hockey with out an Umpire and we have to provide one for all matches. U.H. run a Young Umpires Scheme for junior volunteers (under 18) which we enrol volunteers for. After that U.H. run introductory Umpires courses that the club will pay for and the U15 and 2nd XI are great places to get a bit of experience
Club Child OfficersWith the large growth in the Clubs Junior section, we could do with at least one more CCO and ideally two. Thankfully this is not a significant commitment and mainly involves making sure all volunteers have the relevant Access NI checks and training. The club will provide training.
Press and Social Media OfficerIt would be great to get the word out there about all the things Bangor HC seniors and juniors get up to. Whilst the FB pages are pretty well manned, being able to get that content polished up and into the local news paper would be a great help.
Club Mark and Funding OfficerThere is quite a bit of funding out there for Bangor HC to avail off. However to unlock that the Club needs to apply for and then obtain the Clubmark certification. This basically involves working through a four page check list of what are regarded as good governance practices for a sports club should adhere to. If you like being organised then this role would be a good fit. Obtaining Clubmark would mean additional cash for new goals, hockey balls, Kit, external coaches, club days etc.
Parents CommitteeThe Bangor HC Juniors Parents committee are a fun bunch who act as conduit between parents and the club to provide feedback on how the club is run, organise the Bangor HC Juniors Club day, organise fund raising events, organise social events for the girls and hopefully at some stage in the the near future help with organising a tour for the U15’s.
Kit ManagerThis isn’t washing Kit!!

Bangor HC obviously are required to have a playing strip and we also have a range of leisure clothing. This requires working with suppliers to make sure that we get competitive pricing, working with the club to change kit items and then managing orders for kit. If you like buying stuff this is for you.
